In Matthew 28:19 Jesus made it clear that He wants us to go and make disciples. And while discipleship is about living for Jesus, it is much more than behavior modification. It is first and foremost about having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ – about loving Him. This is what His sacrifice on the cross made possible, and where we put our faith as believers. We live for him best when we do it out of our love for Him, not guilt or duty.

We exist to help people love Jesus first, and then live for Him out of that love.

Capital City Church exists to help people love Jesus and live for him.

our weekly Worship connects us.

For two thousand years the church has met weekly to sing, hear the word preached, and celebrate God’s grace in their lives. Our responsibility as a link in this historic chain is to steward this heritage well and pass it on to those who come behind us. Our worship experience blends both ancient and modern, connecting us to each other through robust congregational singing, while also connecting us to those who came before us through liturgical elements common to the church for millennia.

  • Biblical Truth

We believe the Bible to be utterly authoritative and free from error; it is our absolute rule of faith and practice. Its commands and principles guide us in every area of life, and discipleship cannot occur apart from a growing knowledge of it and obedience to it.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

  • Intentional Relationships

We believe Christianity has always been learned and lived out most effectively when it’s done life-on-life. Inspiration and instruction happen best when we are intentionally learning from a spiritual mentor or guide.

2 Timothy 2:2 What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.

Hebrews 13:7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.

  • Compelling Grace

We believe that the reality of God’s grace shown to us on the cross and our forgiveness of sin is something we never outgrow or mature beyond. The Christian life is most effectively energized by God’s love for us and the grace He extends to us – when we are compelled by grace.

Romans 2:4 God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance

Titus 2:11-12 the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age

  • Radical Generosity

We believe that the church should be generous to those in need, whether in our own neighborhoods or around the world. We want our most generous gifts to be the external ones, those that leave our walls without benefitting us directly.

2 Corinthians 8:1-3 We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord
